Before I left Germany, Jan’s mama hooked me up with a compilation of delicious traditional german recipes. Just like Oma used to make! It’s “Dr. Oetker German Cooking Today The Original” which has smart adaptations and tips for not so kitchen-savvy folk such as I. Jan’s ma also gave me the cute idea of presenting my culinary masterpieces each Tuesday in a new segment called “Delicious Dienstag”! What a grand way to force myself to cook properly!
This Tuesday: BREAD DUMPLINGS
All I needed was some rolls that were a couple days old, some bacon (yay), onions, eggs, cooking oil, milk, parsley and salt. They tasted really good, even though they looked nothing like the neatly formed balls in the book, and it went really nice with some cream of mushroom soup. They were also extremely filling. I only ate two and I felt like a bird who ate some rice (which apparently birds eating rice is an urban legend but you catch my drift).
If you dig my dough-blobs/ bread dumplings totally check out the recipe in the book! If I can follow those simple directions without setting my house aflame then so can you!
